Nevada - Reno
On an early morning walk in Reno, you see a lot of things you you don't see the night before. The morning I walked around, I sa w the icy Truckee river, I saw a bunch of Republicans holding signs and complaining to no one in particular (it was fall 2000), and I saw the National Automotive Museum. I think this penny is one of the absolute best pennies I've ever gotten, the detail is amazing ... plus now I have a chance to win a Corvette.
In July 1998, Byron, Crannif, Eric, Jimmy, and I drove up to Reno for the weekend in order to make some donations to be used for civic improvements. I also assumed that I would be able to collect a few smashed pennies as well. I think it's reasonable to say that we exceeded our collective and personal goals. The trip netted 18 pennies, 3 quarters, and a collective donation of...awww nevermind. If you care, all of the Reno pennies were collected at souvenir/t-shirt places along Virginia Street.
"Reno - Lucky Penny" this one shows three playing cards including a king, the ace of spades, and a card in the middle that I can't discern... how lucky is that?
This one is a close up of the famous sign that arches over Virginia Street in downtown Reno and reads "The Biggest Little City in the World."
This one is a little bit farther away view of the famous sign that arches over Virginia Street in downtown Reno and reads "The Biggest Little City in the World." The funny thing is that the star on the top is different in each one...huh.
"High Roller - Reno Nevada" I have nothing to say about this one, craps really holds no interest for me.
"Lake Tahoe" - This one appeared at two different t-shirt stores, and I got two of them because at one the sign showed the moon hanging over the lake in front of the mountains, unfortunately the picture on the sign didn't quite match the penny.
"I Love You - Reno Nevada" Quickie marriages, quickie divorces, quickie everything.....Reno is a city for lovers.
"My Lucky Penny - Reno Nevada" It shows a four-leaf clover, a horseshoe, and a couple of curlicues...I wish I had picked this up a little earlier in my trip.
Our Trip continued the next day in Virginia City.
