"The National D-Day Museum - New Orleans" Jennifer Edwards and her mother visited New Orleans in August 2003 and loved the D-Day museum. She talked to the re-enactors there and they said they get most of the uniforms on Ebay. go figure. Also, it has reopened after Hurricane Katrina
Jennifer and her mother went to a big gift shop called Jazz Funeral Gifts, that Jennifer raved about. They have a web site, but it's not really working right now due to the hurricane.
December 2005 - Mardi Gras World seems to be open.
"Lucky Mojo Charm - New Orleans French Quarter" - another from Jennifer Edwards. She went there in August of 2003 and I'm writing this in December 2005, I don't think you can get this penny at the Jazz Funeral Gift Shop right now, but hopefully you will be able to soon.
"Aquarium of the Americas - New Orleans" Jim and Eric were working in New Orleans and brought me back this penny. Nice work, where you can take off to the aquarium during a weekday.
"Big Fun in New Orleans" I really don't know why there's a Tyrannousarus on this penny or why one would be fun. Vard sent this one (and the next 3) to me. Thanks Vard!
"Mardi Gras - New Orleans" Vard sent me this one, what is there to say about the biggest pre-lenten festival in the world? Except that maybe it isn't the biggest? I'm just trying to find something to say here and I can really see that the well's run dry.
"Cafe Du Monde - New Orleans" Cafe Du Monde is a Decatur Street Landmark. Does anybody know if the people working there really wear this uniform? Let me know... Thank you to Vard for sending me this penny! Jeanne wrote to me about this penny
"Cafe Du Monde 1999 - New Orleans" There's an intersting history of the Cafe available. We've been talking for years about going to New Orleans, but we have never quite made it there. Vard sent this penny from a visit she made there in early 2000. (I guess they were a little behind in the update, I know how it is...
I got the next 4 pennies William at Kites Tails and Toys in New Orleans. Nope, nope, I haven't been there. They wrote me a message and said they wanted to help fill out my collection. I said, "Sure thing, send 'em to me!" and now I'm saying it to you. (Does that make sense?)
"Jackson Square - New Orleans" I don't know what Jackson Square is, but this seems to show a church. Thanks to the people at Kites Tails and Toys for sending this one to me. Update: Joan wrote with some info!
"I got smashed in New Orleans" Who doesn't love a double entendre? That's a lamppost, just waiting for someone who just got smashed to start swing from. It's a nice service they provide in New Orleans, I guess!
"Mardi Gras - New Orleans" Those are masks of Tragedy and Comedy, I'm sure you know. I'm trying to fill space here, can you tell? Anyway, these last 4 pennies are from Kites Tails and Toys in the Riverwalk Mall in New Orleans, so get down there and get 'em for yourself! Or cehck out their website for immediate gratification
