FLYNN'S Guide to San Francisco's Neighborhood Bars

New Lodge Lottery
699 Chenery
Glen Park

Two doors up the street, the pizza woman asked "yea, where ya gonna go around here at 10:00". Well I guess you don't try your luck at the New Lodge Lottery.

With rows of narrow tinted windows, this baseball hat filled corner bar resembles somewhat of a tiny prison. The tag team smooching bartenders performed their duties adequately, I guess, although my request for no salt on my mixed margarita was ignored. Drinks were cheap, but don't look for any beer on tap or much else other than bud and equivalents. The austere setting of this bar was further exemplified by the plain white sheet of paper with a hand scrawled death notice of another local bar owner.

Life in the bar picked up slightly with the selection of Herb Alpert on the juke box, at least more so than Walter Brennan's version of "Old Rivers" (a Flynn favorite).

Flynn gives this one a jigger and a half.
